Horticulture classes at Duke Farms feature hands-on instruction by the specialists and master gardeners who care for the plants and landscapes on the property.

Orchid Classes

Duke Farms offers a variety of programs for orchid enthusiasts -- both for those who are new to orchids and for those who are more familiar with orchids but wish to learn more about these amazing plants. 
 

Seed to Seed: The Secrets of Growing

Learn how to propagate native plants through seeds, cuttings and division.

Native Seed Collection

Learn about the importance of using native plants in the landscape, how to identify various seeds, methods used to collect seeds, times to harvest and the cleaning and storage of seeds. These classes are offered in the summer and early autumn.   

 

 

  
Native Nursery: More than 170,000 native plants have  been propagated in our on-site native nursery from seeds collected on the property. These plants our being used in our habitat regeneration projects. To date, 325 acres of meadows have been restored and more than 246,000 native plants have been planted on 230 acres.

Garden State Gardens

Duke Farms is a member of Garden State Gardens, a consortium of public gardens in New Jersey that are working together to increase public awareness of and appreciation for the state's public gardens by promoting their horticultural, educational, historic and artistic value and to facilitate the collaboration of allied professionals to promote public garden visitation, stewardship and support.
