DESCRIPTION:Discover some of our most beautiful—and sometimes delightfully fragrant—orchids during a special evening tour beneath August’s Sturgeon Moon. \n  \nFamilies are complicated. Orchidaceae most of all. \n  \nOn this inviting summer night walk\, the light of the full moon will guide us to the Orchid Range—and from there\, around the world. Journey through the remarkable diversity of this global plant family\, from Panama to Nepal to Ghana\, as we explore the extraordinary colors\, forms\, and adaptations that make orchids unlike any other flowers. \n  \nAlong the way\, we’ll uncover the hidden evolutionary stories written into every bloom. Are orchids truly as fragile and finicky as their reputation suggests? Or are their intricate relationships with pollinators\, fungi\, and native habitats simply difficult to recreate outside the ecosystems where they evolved? Together\, we’ll discover what makes these plants so fascinating. \n  \nProgram Information\n\nLocation: Meet at the Orientation Center before walking to the Orchid Range.\nDistance: Approximately 2 miles.\nTerrain: Paved\, gravel\, and dirt paths.\nWeather: This program takes place entirely outdoors. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes.\n\nCome experience the beauty\, mystery\, and global story of orchids under the glow of the full Sturgeon Moon. \n\n\nProgram Guidelines\nDid you know members receive 10% off all programs?
