SUMMARY:Wetlands Chorus
DESCRIPTION:With the return of spring comes a nightly chorus of chirps and peeps\, but those aren’t birds you’re hearing!\n\n\nJoin us as we seek out the frogs responsible in their unique\, ephemeral habitat: the vernal pool. One of spring’s most fascinating—and fleeting—features\, vernal pools appear and disappear with the changing of seasons. And this time of year\, they come alive at twilight. Oh\, and waterproof shoes never hurt! \nThis program will take place entirely outdoors. Please dress for the weather. Participants will travel about 2 miles on paved\, gravel\, and dirt surfaces. \n\n\nProgram Guidelines\nDid you know members receive 10% off all programs? SUMMARY:Signs of Spring
DESCRIPTION:Birds\, buds\, bees\, or bless yous—what signs tell you that spring has sprung?\n\n\nNothing but the return of spring manages to feel so new and so familiar at the same time. On this outing\, we’ll take time to read the land for signs of the changing season: bursting buds\, birdsong\, buzzing bees\, and spring ephemerals—the inconspicuous early bloomers that serve as vital sources of nectar and pollen for native insects. Come with us in search of these fascinating plants and all the other highlights of this season of awakening. \nThis program will take place entirely outdoors. Please dress for the weather. She’s been leading bird walks since 2018 and is always looking to engage new birders in her lifelong passion. You can join her on her monthly bird walks through her new LLC Beachy Birder Adventures\, and her favorite bird is the one she’s looking at. \nPhoto by Lindsay McNamara. \nAccessibility\nDuke Farms is committed to equitable nature access\, and the following accommodations may be available\, depending on the program: \n\nPaved\, flat trails\nInstructors with voice amplifiers\nAssistive listening devices (ALDs) for indoor programs\nAmerican Sign Language Interpreters\, with ten (10) days’ notice\nKultureCity sensory bags\nWe welcome working\, trained service animals as described by the ADA\n\nWe may be able to provide additional\, reasonable accommodations not listed here; please contact us at registrations@dukefarms.org. \n\n\nBecome a Member\nInvest in our efforts to protect wildlife\, revitalize habitats\, and model clean energy solutions by becoming a member.
