SUMMARY:Nighttime Moth Walk (for National Moth Week)
DESCRIPTION:Join Seasonal Educator Toni on a nighttime walk in search of local moth species with a chance to see them up close!\n\n\nMoths are appreciated less often than their butterfly relatives\, but they are still important to their ecosystems as pollinators and food to other wildlife. Some moths can be seen during the day\, but some are more elusive and only active under the cover of night… In turn\, this nighttime walk will teach about the local diversity of moth species that can be seen at Duke Farms. We will even be using a blacklight to potentially attract some moths for close\, easy observation and identification! This event will also be held during National Moth Week\, a citizen science project that aims to study and record moth populations during the last week of July. \nWe will be meeting first behind the Farm Barn Orientation Center before departing for our program! \nThis class involves traveling less than 1 mile on mixed (paved and unpaved) surfaces\, with participants moving for the entire duration. Most program routes can be adapted to accommodate mobility needs. \n(Photo Credit: Snowberry Clearwing\, taken by Sara DiVito) \n\n\nProgram Guidelines\nDid you know members receive 10% off all programs? To learn more and become a member\, visit dukefarms.org/membership. \nAll programs begin at the Farm Barn Orientation Center unless otherwise noted. \nRegistration is required. DESCRIPTION:Understanding New Jersey’s Invasive Species Management Act\n  \nWhat does New Jersey’s new Invasive Species Management Act mean for you? \nJoin Mike Van Clef\, Director of the Invasive Species Strike Team at Friends of Hopewell Valley Open Space. SUMMARY:Nighttime Moth Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join Educator Toni on a nighttime walk in search of local moth species with a chance to see them up close!\n\n\nButterflies often steal the spotlight. Moths deserve attention\, too. \n  \nThese remarkable insects pollinate flowers and provide food for birds\, bats\, and other wildlife. Some species fly during the day. Many become active only after sunset. \n  \nJoin us for a nighttime walk and discover the amazing diversity of moths at Duke Farms. We’ll use a blacklight to attract moths for close observation. Learn how to identify different species and explore the important role they play in local ecosystems. \n  \nYou may never look at moths the same way again. \n  \nWe will be meeting first behind the Farm Barn Orientation Center before departing for our program! \nThis class involves traveling less than 1 mile on mixed (paved and unpaved) surfaces\, with participants moving for the entire duration. Most program routes can be adapted to accommodate mobility needs. \n  \n(Photo Credit: Snowberry Clearwing\, taken by Sara DiVito) \n\n\nProgram Guidelines\nDid you know members receive 10% off all programs?
