Winter Wildflower Walk

Winter can seem like a time to put things on hold–for both the natural world and for those of us who study and enjoy it. But a more attentive look at our meadows and woodlands reveals plenty of residual botanical charm to see us through to spring. Stripped down to their essential characters by now, some of our favorite blooms from warmer months persist–and though it can be challenging to recognize them, it’s a little like encountering an old friend when you do.
