Monarch & Meadow Month: What’s That in the Meadow?

If you saw our other resource on what qualifies an area as a meadow, you might have an idea of what a meadow looks like. In this resource, we discuss the flora and fauna that call meadows "home".  What qualities of meadows entice wildlife to make their home there? How many different types of food sources can you name? How many different types of animals? This resource includes an activity on exploring and making food chains or food webs.

At Duke Farms, August marks Monarch and Meadow Month as we focus on the multitude of magnificent stories of the interactions between and among this biodiverse ecosystem. The monarch butterfly is certainly one of the featured creatures, but as the month unfolds, you will soon discover through activities, lesson plans, videos, book links, and creative resources, much more about why our meadows need to be maintained and preserved.
