“We abuse land because we regard it as a commodity belonging to us. When we see land as a community to which we belong, we may begin to use it with love and respect.”

Foreword, A Sand County Almanac

Sustainability September will highlight how Duke Farms serves as a model of environmental stewardship and ways that you can infuse practices in your home, community, and workplace that encourage a cleaner greener life for generations to come while also combating climate change.

You've heard of agriculture and you've heard of ecology - but have you heard of agroecology? A mix of the two words, agroecology is the study and practice of ecological processes applied to agricultural production systems. It's a field we embrace heartily here at Duke Farms, as it utilizes cutting edge innovation that betters the planet for everyone and everything living on the earth. How do we use agroecology at Duke Farms? Is Duke Farms really a farm? This resource will teach you about the power of agroecology and how it's harnessed at Duke Farms.
