Virtual Firefly Festival: Storytime with Flint and Phoebe

It's storytime! We might be wrapping up July and looking forward to August, but we're still celebrating fireflies here at Duke Farms. In this video, author and illustrator of Flint and Phoebe Find a Home, Katie Enberg, reads her book about two fireflies in search of a home.

It's storytime! We might be wrapping up July and looking forward to August, but we're still celebrating fireflies here at Duke Farms. In this video, author and illustrator of Flint and Phoebe Find a Home, Katie Enberg, reads her book about two fireflies in search of a home.

Katie used her artistic and literary talents to create this tale of two friends who set off on a journey that is fraught with danger. Sadly, suitable habitat for fireflies is dwindling, which Flint and Phoebe learn as they fly from place to place, hoping to find a habitat that will provide safe shelter and dark skies at night. A former intern at Duke Farms, and now environmental scientist, Katie will never forget the summer she spent at Duke Farms and how the glow of fireflies in the dark inspired her to create this enchanting story.

This resource was a collaborative effort on behalf of the Duke Farms Education team.
