A Year Ago, June 14, Another Nest Drama

As an astute cam viewer pointed out,  this The old cam and the nest (mostly obscured by leaves). same day last year -- June 14, Flag Day -- was also a time of high drama at the nest, just as the eaglets were ready to leave. Both eaglets had been branching (jumping  onto nearby tree limbs), and one appeared to have fledged. That night, a Sunday, lightning struck the Sycamore tree and knocked out the old cam. The old cam did not have infra-red, so it was unclear what had happened. What's more, no one knew the fate of the eagle family. Two days later, Duke Farms got permission to visit the nest tree.
