It was New Years Day in 2017. I sat at my desk and wrote a list of goals for the year, all around a single theme for the year: community. I set out to create opportunities that could generate new connections and friendships. I tried to challenge myself to try new things that would help me learn something new about myself and others. With that thought in mind, I purchased a plot in the Duke Farms community garden on a cold January morning. I bought it on impulse because I didn't have a lot of knowledge about gardening, but I felt like it was the right decision. Also, I would be encouraged to spend more time outdoors!
